TEF (Test d’Évaluation de Français)

TEF is a French language test designed by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The purpose of the TEF exam is to test the level of proficiency in French as a foreign language. All exam candidates receive a certificate indicating the test results and their compliance with levels 1-6 (A1-C2) of the Pan-European Language Learning Folder.

The TEF consists of three parts:

    • Required part
    • Writing(optional)
    • Speaking (optional)

The compulsory part consists of 3 parts: listening- comprehension, reading-comprehension and grammar.

The written word consists of two separate written works.

Speech is a 15-minute, two-task interview that tests the ability to obtain and argue candidate information.

The TEF examination certificate is valid for 2 years.

TEFaQ (Le Test d’Évaluation de Français pour l’accès au Québec)

TEFaQ is a special version of TEF for Quebec designed for those who apply for a permanent residence in Quebec and must present a French language certificate.

TEFaQ consists of 4 separate parts:

    • Listening – comprehension
    • Reading- comprehension
    • Speaking
    • Writing

Oral is an interview consisting of two 15-minute assignments that test the candidate’s ability to obtain and argue information.

The written word consists of 2 separate written assignments and the total length of the exam is 60 minutes.

The TEFaQ exam certificate is valid for 2 years.
